Ashgrove Public School
Mississauga, Ontario
4’x12’, Acrylic on 3 Masonite Panels
Welcoming the transition from Ashgrove Public School to Garthwood Park Public School, all the students from Ashgrove (now in Garthwood Park P.S), participated in the creative process of this triptych. The theme was “transformation”. To represent this concept, they painted a large butterfly depicting the union of both schools. From the bottom part of the wings, the blue and red colours meet creating a new one. Purple becomes an important part in the design of the butterfly. This blending symbolizes “unity” and “inclusiveness”.
The butterfly is now displayed in the library of Garthwood Park PS, where all the school learning community can enjoy its beauty.
