All these years I have had the wonderful opportunity to coach all of the students in a variety of art projects, introducing different artists and techniques.
The Legacy Project: “The Past, Present and Future”, with the participation of all the students from Kindergarten to Grade 5
Triptych, acrylic & mixed media on 3 masonite panels 4’x5’
This project was initiated to honour the legacy of King’s Masting Public School prior to the consolidation with Brookmede Public School in September 2014.
“The Past”
The painting depicts the history of the school property where the trees with tall straight trunks were used to make masts for the ships in the king’s royal fleet.
“The Present”
This panel represents the climate and culture of King’s Masting Public School focusing on character education, global citizenship and authentic learning experiences for all children.
“The Future”
The last panel illustrates the bright and wonderful world of creative possibilities available to the children of King’s Masting Public School as Agents of Change.
Kindergarten
“Joy”, 4’x5’acrylic on canvas
The kindergarten children expressed the joy of freedom, employing many colours and bold brushstrokes.
Grade 2
“Earth, Wind and Water”, 4’x5’ acrylic & mixed media masonite panels
Working from 3 different photographs of landscapes, all Grade 2 students explored different techniques using acrylics, gels and pastes to represent each landscape.
Kindergarten to Grade 5
As an introduction to different art movements, each grade learned about the work of a specific artist. Based on either a style or colour palette, they created their own painting.
