Acrylic on 2 4’x5’ masonite panels
Sawmill Valley Public School is committed to fostering self esteem in all students by empowering them in the knowledge that they are capable of achieving anything they want in life.
Teachers express qualities such as dedication, compassion, commitment and a “can do” attitude.
They set up great examples to the students by being proactive. Their involvement in the community by helping families to build or renovate their homes is an example.
For that reason the students decided to participate in the creation of 2 panels “I CAN” and “WE CAN” to express in visual arts what they can do.
The painting “I CAN” represents what the children can accomplish. They can dream big!
The painting “WE CAN” embraces the teachers’ community work. To represent these two words that compose the theme, we created a design that helped us to use the shape or form of construction materials depicting the whole concept.
In addition to these art projects, the students completed two colourful landscapes.
